Shimming and Wedging – How Why and When to Adjust the Angle of Foil Wings

Shimming and WedgingShimming and Wedging the angle of our foil wings can be confusing, in this video series I explain how, why, and when to adjust the angle of incidence of our foil tail wing, front wing, and mast.  In these videos I show and explain 3 ways to shim or wedge a foil and how each change effects flight.

The first three videos are animations explaining how shimming works and why to do it.  The next four videos I show how I shim a foil.

Wind and Wings – Understanding Wind Direction and Which Way it will Push a Wing Foiler

Wind DirectionThis video series shows wind direction and how to wing foil in the direction we want to go.  Using animation I created a map of Crissy Field in San Francisco and show the various ways a winger will get pushed depending on the wind direction and which way the current is flowing.  I go through the four seasons showing the changing wind directions, and show what the wind does as storms pass through.   This information can be applied to any beach in the world.

Foiling Switch, Unnatural, Weak Side – Riding with Either Left or Right Foot Forward

Foiling SwitchThis video series shows how to foil on our weak or unnatural side.  Tips and video breakdowns on how to progress through the challenge of flying straight and staying on foil long enough to complete a reach.  The first ten or so sessions were very frustrating for me and no advice helped.  I hope to change that with this tutorial and get everyone foiling with either left or right foot forward. There are 5 videos in this series.
