These videos show how to turn a foil, how foil turns differ from surfboards, and how to turn safely. In the first two videos I breakdown the mechanics of turning a foil. Next an animated explanation of how foil gear size effects lean over and the ability to turn. Then I show videos of me crashing on gear that was to advanced for me to turn safely - what not to do. Followed by videos where I show foil turn scenarios and explain what's going on and how to have more success turning a foil.

I’m stoked. These videos are designed to show you how to foil. To give you the information I wish I had when I was learning to foil. The videos show and explain each skill and maneuver needed to successfully foil. Shown in close up detail, I go frame by frame and explain what to do and why it works. This video course shortens the foil learning curve, making the learn to foil journey easier and more enjoyable. I will post the newest videos at the bottom of the page, or click here to see a chronological listing of these learn to foil videos.
Steep take offs can be scary and dangerous on a foil, and also super fun, exciting, and satisfying.
Getting hucked over the falls, face planting, and then getting run over by the foil is not fun.
In these videos I show how I make steep drops in overhead powerful waves, the technique works for me in any size waves. I also use this technique on downwinders and wing dinging. The second technique I show is how to catch waves that seem uncatchable or that barely break.

Breaching, or flying the foil out of the water usually leads to a fall and or missing the wave.

The three times I hurt myself learning to foil were due to roll falls and my inability to fall safely. In these videos I explain what a roll fall is, how they happen, how to fall safely, and how to prevent.
